Residual symptoms following empirically supported treatment for PTSD

Dr. Sadie Larsen recently published a manuscript titled “Residual symptoms following empirically supported treatment for PTSD”. Dr. Larsen’s study found that distress related to trauma reminders, detachment, and insomnia were the most common residual posttraumatic stress disorder symptoms after patients complete either cognitive processing therapy (CPT) or prolonged exposure (PE). This work underscores the need to continue to evaluate residual symptoms to best assist clients in achieving full recovery.
