Our group has been involved in studying new treatments to improve recovery from PTSD. We work with Veterans and civilians, both treating chronic PTSD and preventing the development of PTSD after a trauma leading to hospitalization. Ultimately, we want to answer the questions: how can we stop PTSD from developing in the first place? When treating chronic PTSD, what treatments will work best, and for whom? We want to be a part of disseminating evidence-based treatments and assessing their usefulness, while also contributing to the development of new evidence-based treatments. This includes established treatments like Prolonged Exposure and Cognitive Processing Therapy, along with newer treatments, like an online memory-training game, and an abbreviated Prolonged Exposure used right after trauma.
