Carissa is a Ph.D. student in the neuroscience doctoral program at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in Dr. Christine Larson’s Affective Neuroscience Lab. She is interested in using neuroimaging techniques to understand structural and functional differences in the those with anxiety and PTSD. She is currently working on a project investigating structural changes of the brain over time in a population of individuals at risk for developing PTSD after a traumatic event. She is also using high-resolution 7-Tesla MRI to characterize resting state functional connectivity of key brain structures in the neurocircuitry of anxiety.
